Nineteen-year-old MaseTheMessiah, hailing from East Palo Alto, California, is a fresh face on the scene, but already a force to be reckoned with. Mase’s early poetry influences continue to be major indicators of his work today. In utilizing music as his desired medium of self expression, we all benefit from the poetic vulnerability within his artistry.
The deeply introspective “Think About It (Shadow Man Speaks)” grants us access into the closed-off mind of MaseTheMessiah. Mental processing is accomplished through Mase’s music. As mentioned in “I Had Psilocybin Mushrooms For Breakfast,” “[he] shares it through [his] songs.” While the average length of a single tends to be rather short-lived, it leaves the listeners wanting more, an indicator of Mase’s true intrigue.
Growing up without parental guidance, as the oldest of three siblings, Mase was forced to grow up quickly. In losing his childhood to responsibility, music was the prime coping mechanism and continues to be so today. To date, there are 7 EP’s in MaseTheMessiah’s name, and plenty more to come.
With Mase, it’s not an act. It’s not for the potential future fame. It’s real, and so his talent. Stay tuned for more very soon.
