Brooklyn’s very own rising star, Smoove’L, has been making quite some noise. Typically recognized for his NY drill style, he’s proving he’s so much more with songs like, “Palm Angels” (which debuted on Complex and was Pitchfork‘s “New Rap Song of the Day”) and hot single, “New Apolos” (which currently has a little over 4 million views on YouTube). Today he releases the video for his latest track, “2020”, watch above.
Smoove’L was born and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, well known for producing rap icons, Jay-Z and the late and great Notorious B.I.G. The 19-year-old lyricist is part of the next tidal wave of up and coming talent hailing from the same borough, proving themselves for a spot on the world stage. Recently, Complex included Smoove’L on their watchlist of rappers for 2020 stating, “The way Smooth’L moves between speed-fueled bars of street hustles to melodic lines about the girl he wants, signals maturity and mastery of his artistry. He’s a rapper’s rapper with mainstream appeal, offering technical flourishes for the rap heads and sticky choruses for radio-friendly listeners.”
This year, the rapidly rising star won’t stop delivering moving content that will showcase his abilities that’ll earn him the title of being worthy of top tier rank.
